First Nebraska Wine Retailer with Staff Sommelier

June 20th, 2006 - PHG announced today that it has now become the first Nebraska wine retailer with a staff sommelier.  One June 15th, 2006, the Court of Master Sommeliers certified Aimee Arnold - Owner of PHG, as a sommelier in a Chicago, Illinois testing.  In addition to Aimee being one of only four sommeliers in Nebraska and the state's first female sommelier, Aimee's wine retail store has become the first Nebraska wine retailer with a sommelier on staff.

"Wine has become my passion and the sommelier certification was a personal goal that I feel privileged to have attained", said Aimee Arnold. "Fine wine is becoming more and more a part of our lives here
in Nebraska, I want to utilize my sommelier credentials to help Nebraska move forward from a national perspective with better wine values, improved availability of higher end wines, and provide in state wine expertise that East and West coast retailers already provide for their customers. Our customers deserve the best wine and wine values and this is a way to assure that our customers receive the best service available from us as a Nebraska wine retailer."

Globally the professional sommelier certification is male dominated with less than 10% of the sommeliers being female.  As Nebraska's first female sommelier, Aimee will focus on customer education, identifying wines that represent extraordinary values, and leveraging her distributor and importer relationships to improve the availability of hard to find, quality wines.  Aimee has plans to continue to advance with further sommelier certifications.
